A powerful 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck western and northwest Venezuela on Thursday, September 25, according to the US Geological Survey. Strong tremors were reported in parts of the South American country. However, there are no immediate reports of any damage or casualties as of now.
The epicenter of the quake was located at a shallow depth of 7.8 kilometers (4.8 miles), which is about 24 km from Mene Grande. "Notable quake, preliminary info: M 6.2 - 24 km ENE of Mene Grande, Venezuela," the USGS said in a post on X.
