In the aftermath of the Hamas attacks in Israel, the country is in need of approximately one lakh workers for the recovery from the damages. The Israeli government has sought assistance from India in the form of labor.
India has assured full support in this regard. As per the orders of the Indian government, around 40,000 skilled workers from Uttar Pradesh will be sent to Israel in the coming days to contribute to construction-related activities in response to the Israeli government’s request for help.
The Department of Labor and Employment has initiated its first phase. All districts have been instructed to collect data of interested workers. Subsequently, after passing a test, they will be sent to Israel.
After the terrorist organization Hamas carried out an attack, Israel had canceled all work permits for Palestinians. Consequently, there is a significant crisis for workers in the construction sector and various other sectors in Israel.
Construction workers will be sent to Israel through the National Skill Development Corporation International (NSDCI). Interested individuals should possess work experience and at least a high school education. Additionally, the age limit for applicants is set between 21 and 45 years.

Workers going to Israel will receive a monthly stipend of 6100 Israeli New Shekel, equivalent to approximately INR 1,37,260 in Indian currency. The Israeli government will provide accommodation for all workers, including those involved in construction work, painting, welding, shuttering, tiling, and various other trades. However, workers will be responsible for their own expenses related to food, medical insurance, and other personal needs.
Under the guidance of Kanpur’s Labor Commissioner, Markandey Shahi, virtual meetings have been conducted with officials from the Labor and Employment Department of all districts. They have been instructed to collect data from all interested and eligible construction workers across districts who wish to travel to Israel.
Subsequently, a test will be conducted through NSDCI, and the selected workers will be sent to Israel after providing them with the necessary training. Additional Labor Commissioner Kalpana Srivastava has formed a team to prepare for this process.
As per the Additional Labor Commissioner, Assistant Labor Commissioner Ram Lakhhan Patel has led a team of two Labor Enforcement Officers, and their mobile numbers have also been released. The process of sending them will commence with the arrival of applications.
