New Delhi: The Supreme Court in Washington DC has struck down a restrictive New York gun law as a verdict in a major suite regarding the gun rights.
This decision was given with a majority of 6 to 3. This is now going to allow more people who will legally protected if they choose to carry guns. The people of New York, Los Angeles and Boston can now carry their guns in the streets.
The decision comes in the wake of Congress working actively towards gun legislations. This also comes after when the US has been a witness to recent mass shootings in California, Texas and New York.
Justice Clarence Thomas gave the verdict that the Constitution has enshrined within it, “an individual’s right to carry a handgun for elf defense outside home.”
In the verdict the Court struck down a New York law that require people to demonstrate a particular need if in case they want to carry a gun and furthermore get a license for the same. The justice said that this requirement is in clear violation of the Second Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.”
