US School Shooting: A gunman opened fire at a Minneapolis Catholic school on Wednesday, leaving two children, aged 8 and 10, dead and 17 other people injured before shooting himself, officials said.
The shooting happened during the first week of school, as children attended Mass. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the gunman, armed with a rifle, pistol and shotgun, fired dozens of rounds through the church windows at children inside.

"This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshipping. The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible," the police chief said.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said on social media that he had been briefed about the shooting and is "praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence."
