The United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer will make an official visit to India on October 8-9, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be the British Prime Minister’s first official visit to the country. During his visit, both leaders will review progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UK.
In an official press release, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “During the visit, on October 9 in Mumbai, the two Prime Ministers will take stock of progress in diverse aspects of the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in line with ‘Vision 2035’, a focussed and time bound 10-year Roadmap of programmes and initiatives in key pillars of trade and investment, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate and energy, health, education and people to people relations.”
During Karmer’s stay in India, the two leaders will also discuss issues related to regional and global importance. MEA further stated that Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Starmer will meet businesses and industry leaders and engage in discussions on opportunities presented by the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Additionally, the two leaders are scheduled to attend the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest to be organised in Mumbai on October 9 and speak at the high-level forum. They will also hold talks with industry experts, policymakers, and innovators. The upcoming meeting will enable both countries to reaffirm their shared vision to build a forward-looking partnership.
Earlier in July, PM Modi paid an official visit to the United Kingdom, where he held discussions on issues of mutual interest. In a post on X, the Prime Minister wrote, “The talks with PM Keir Starmer were outstanding, particularly in the wake of the successful signing of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. In addition to economic cooperation, this agreement sets the stage for boosting shared prosperity.”
