A few United States agencies have already adopted a stern policy toward any such approach by officials. However, it is not new that US diplomats often get involved with local people and start dating and getting married to them.

The rule implemented last year for American diplomats

Last year, this rule was implemented in a limited way on the American diplomats and officials who were posted in the US embassy in China, and five other consulates were prohibited from developing any relations with the Chinese guards and other employees posted at the facilities.

Two people familiar with the restrictions said that the issue was discussed last summer. The select committee of the Chinese Communist Party did not react to the issue.

Rule will not affect American employees posted outside of China

Under the new policy, the American missions and consulates are located in China and other parts of the country, like Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Wuhan. The rule will not be implemented on American employees posted outside of China.

China to take “resolute counter-measures” against “reciprocal tariffs”

Meanwhile, China’s commerce ministry said that it will take “resolute counter-measures” against the “reciprocal tariffs” announced by United States President Donald Trump on all US trade partners, Global Times reported.

The ministry further urged Washington to cancel the unilateral tariff measures.

“There is no winner in a trade war, and protectionism leads nowhere. China urges the US to immediately remove unilateral tariffs and resolve differences with trade partners through dialogue,” a ministry spokesperson said as cited in the Chinese State-owned Global Times.

Amid worldwide criticism, Trump declared a national economic emergency and announced tariffs of at least 10 per cent across all countries, with rates even higher for 60 countries.
