TTP claims responsibility for Islamabad suicide attack, says will keep attacking Pakistan until…

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Tuesday claimed responsibility of suicide attack that took place outside court in Islamabad. At least 12 people lost their lives and  over 27 people were injured in the attack. TTP is also known as the Pakistan Taliban.

The incident took place amid several international events being organised in Islamabad, including the Conference of Inter-Parliamentary Speakers. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the suicide blast took place at 12:29 PM, killing 12 people and injuring 27 others.

Dr. Mubashir Daha, spokesperson for Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), said at least 36 injured people were brought to the hospital. Of them, 18 were discharged after treatment, while 14 were shifted to the wards, three were admitted in the emergency department, and one was taken in the operation theatre.

While speaking about the details of the explosion, Naqvi said that the attacker stood outside the court for nearly 12 minutes before detonating the explosives.

Naqvi further said, “the attacker first tried to enter the court, but when he couldn’t get inside, he targeted a police vehicle.” 

The home minister said, “We are linking today’s blast to several factors, and in the coming hours or days, we will have complete clarity on the matter.”

Meanwhile, the TTP issued a statement saying that their fighter carried out the attack on the judicial complex in Islamabad. Judges, lawyers, and officials who deliver verdicts under Pakistan’s un-Islamic laws were targeted.”

It further threatened to carry out more attacks until Islamic Sharia law is implemented in the Muslim-majority country of Pakistan.
