US President Donald Trump on Thursday spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He shared the information on Truth social.
Trump posted on Truth Social, “I am speaking to President Putin now. The conversation is ongoing, a lengthy one, and I will report the contents, as will President Putin, at its conclusion.”
“All we want from President Putin is to stop this, stop killing Ukrainians and stop killing Russians because he’s killing a lot of Russians,” Trump said, while describing the animosity between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a “major obstacle.”
“I think we’ll get them. If India doesn’t buy oil, it makes it much easier… They will not be buying oil from Russia, and they’ll go back to Russia after the war is over,” Trump added, signalling optimism that India’s stance could help de-escalate tensions.
Trump said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him that India would stop purchasing oil from Russia, and described it as “a big step” in efforts to increase global pressure on Moscow.
