“Where is US President Donald Trump?”, “Is he well and alive?”, “What’s going on?” These are some of the most asked questions on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), with the hashtag “Trump Is Dead” trending and “Trump Dead” appearing on Google Trends.
Elon Musk-owned X was flooded with trends regarding his alleged death on the intervening night of August 29 and 30 amid ongoing rumours concerning his health. Users even shared screenshots of the White House website, suggesting they would go “Live shortly”.

Meanwhile, when Grok was asked to verify the claims, X’s free AI assistant dismissed them as ‘rumours’. Regarding the White House screenshots, Grok clarified that the website always shows the same message once press conferences conclude.

Some users also claimed that Trump had ‘no public meeting or appearance scheduled for August 30 and 31’, according to Washington-based publication Roll Call. In response, Grok provided dates of his recent appearances.
X was filled with jokes and memes as one user commented, “streets are saying Trump is Dead”.

Why Is ‘Trump Dead’ Trending?
The viral trend comes a day after US Vice President JD Vance said he is prepared to serve as President if a tragedy occurs. In an interview with USA Today on Thursday, he noted that Donald Trump is in “great health” but added that he is willing to step in if needed.
Vance’s remark comes amid speculations regarding the US president’s health. Recently, the president was seen with a bruise on his hand during his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
His remarks came at a time when there was speculation about Trump’s health. Just recently, the US President was noticed with a bruise on his hand during a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
“I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” the US VP told USA Today.
He further said that he has had the best “on-the-job training”, if tragedy strikes, he would be ready to step in as POTUS.
“And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on-the-job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days,” he said.
Earlier, the White House had said that the bruise was a “frequent, forceful handshakes and the use of aspirin”.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement: “President Trump is a man of the people, and he meets more Americans and shakes their hands on a daily basis than any other President in history. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day.”
Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, which is a “benign and common condition, especially among individuals over the age of 70,” White House physician Dr Sean Barbabella said.
