Police arrested a suspect at the scene, who is believed to be a student, though their identity is still unknown. The FBI has arrived to investigate. US President Joe Biden has been informed, and the White House stated that Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall briefed him on the incident.

Evacuations Underway After Apalachee High Shooting In Georgia

The administration has closed all schools in Barry County, and police have been stationed at every high school as a precaution. Students at Apalachee High School are being evacuated, and parents have been asked to pick them up, according to Barry County Sheriff Jude Smith. Local authorities are working to reunite students with their parents.

Barry County Sheriff Jude Smith held a press conference outside Apalachee High School in Winder on Wednesday. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has directed state agencies to provide immediate support. On Instagram, he urged Georgia residents to pray for the safety of those at the school. He also mentioned that the state is working closely with local authorities to manage the situation.
