A major plane crash has occurred in Afghanistan. According to reports from Afghan media, in a tragic incident, the aircraft deviated from its original route and collided in the mountainous region of Badakhshan on the night of Saturday, January 20. So far, there has been no official statement from the Indian or Afghan government regarding the identification of the aircraft.
Issuing a clarification on the report, the Ministry of Civil Aviation wrote on X, "The unfortunate plane crash that has just occurred in Afghanistan is neither an Indian Scheduled Aircraft nor a Non-Scheduled (NSOP)/Charter aircraft. It is a Moroccan registered small aircraft. More details are awaited."
Jabihullah Amiri, the head of the Information and Culture Department in Badakhshan, stated that the passenger plane crash occurred in the mountains of Topkhana with Qur'an-Munjan and Zebak districts in the Badakhshan province. He mentioned that a team has been sent to the area for investigation. According to local residents, the plane crashed on Sunday morning. The aircraft, identified as a Dassault Falcon 10 jet manufactured in France, was officially registered in Russia. Early indications suggest that the total number of occupants was six, consisting of four crew members and two passengers.
