Toronto Plane Crash: At least 18 passengers were injured after a Delta Airlines aircraft crashed while attempting to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. The plane ended up upside down on the snowy ground and caught into flames. Following the incident, the president and CEO of Toronto’s airport Deborah Flint addressed the media. She reiterated that there had been no fatalities in the crash, and appreciated the first responders reaching the site “within minutes”.
Toronto Plane Crash: Video Goes Viral
Passengers have shared harrowing accounts of narrow escape from death. Several videos have gone viral in which people can been seen coming out of the wrecked plane. In other videos, the plane appears upside down after it flipped on the runway.
A video has been shared by the passenger onboard. Alongside the footages, she wrote, “My Plane Crashed, I am Upside Down.” As she turns the camera towards the plane, passengers are seen evacuating as firefighters douse the plane. The plane appears lying on snowy runway.
A passenger, Diane Perry said that she was in line to check her luggage when she got to know about the crash from her family who had called her. “It was kind of ironic that we were in the airport and didn’t know that there was a crash outside,” she added.
While addressing a press briefing, Airport CEO Deborah Flint stated that following the crash, all arrivals and departures on the airport’s three other runways were immediately halted but were reopened by around 5 p.m. local time. The remaining two runways will stay closed while an investigation takes place for the “rest of tonight and into the next several days,” Flint added.
Flint mentioned that 17 passengers were injured in the crash. Out of the 76 passengers on board, 22 were Canadian, while the rest were from other countries.
