At least three people were killed and nine others injured in a shocking attack at Taipei Main subway station on Friday. According to Taiwan Premier Cho Jung-tai, the suspect first set off smoke bombs at the busy station before attacking commuters with a knife, causing panic and chaos.
After the initial attack, the suspect continued moving through the subway system. Footage aired by broadcaster EBC shows the person travelling one stop on the metro, then getting off, throwing more smoke grenades, and attacking passers-by with a knife. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing smoke bomb explosion and the chaos it caused. Reportedly, a 57-year-old man was found unconscious at the subway after suffering cardiac arrest. The man was rushed to a hospital and given emergency treatment.

Following the smoke attack, the suspect stabbed at least four people near the Zhongshan MRT station before fleeing into a nearby shopping mall, where police surrounded him. According to local media reports, the suspect fell from an upper floor of the mall and died on the spot.
