The station is so vast that approximately 19,000 items are lost there each year. Around 660 Metro North trains operate daily, carrying approximately 125,000 passengers. Spread across 48 acres, the terminal is not only equipped with modern amenities but also a sight to behold. Its grand design makes it a popular tourist destination, and has been the site of several Hollywood films.

The station also boasts a mysterious “secret platform” located beneath the nearby Waldorf Astoria Hotel. It is said that US President Franklin D. Roosevelt used this secret platform to exit the hotel directly. However, this platform was never opened to public passengers.
