Tensions rise again as Imran Khan’s sisters spend night outside Adiala Jail after being denied visit, heavy police deployed

Imran Khan’s siters and PTI leaders were prevented from meeting him in Adiala Jail, prompting a sit-in protest on Tuesday. The family alleges poor treatment despite a court order allowing visits.

Imran Khan's Sisters Protest

The family of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan has once again been prevented from meeting him in Adiala Jail. Following this, hundreds of leaders from his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with Imran’s sisters, held a sit-in protest outside the prison. Led by Imran Khan’s sister Alima Khan, supporters and PTI members remained outside the jail throughout Tuesday night, demanding access to the former prime minister. A heavy police presence was deployed at the site to maintain order.

Family and PTI Leaders Demand To Meet Imran Once

Alima Khan and PTI leaders have said that, despite a court order, the government is refusing to allow them to meet Imran Khan. The family claims that the former prime minister is not being treated properly in jail. They have accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government and the army chief of being responsible for these restrictions.

According to reports from Dawn, the protest outside Adiala Jail began after jail officials denied access to Imran Khan even though the court had ordered that the family be allowed to meet him. Alima Khan alleged that the government is breaking the law, while her family has not engaged in any illegal activity.

Previous Meeting with Family

Last week, Imran Khan was allowed a brief meeting with his sister Uzma Khan, who reported that he was physically fine but complained about poor treatment inside the jail. Uzma also revealed that Imran has not been allowed to meet his personal doctor for the past 14 months, raising concerns about his health.

Imran Khan's sister says 'This Is Illegal'

Alima Khan, speaking at the protest, said, 'This is illegal. Why are they keeping Imran Khan in isolation and subjecting him to torture? We will not leave this place. They can hit us or even shoot us, but we will not bow down to this injustice.'

PTI Chairman Gauhar Ali Khan said that allowing the family to meet Imran Khan could help ease tensions. He added that the court had granted the right to visit, but they were still being stopped.

PTI Secretary General Raja also stated that there is no reason to prevent Imran Khan’s sisters from meeting him. "Meeting relatives is a fundamental right. No one can deny this under the pretext that messages from Imran Khan were shared outside," he said.

The protest outside Adiala Jail reflects the growing tensions between the government and PTI supporters, highlighting concerns about Imran Khan’s treatment and the importance of respecting legal orders and human rights within the prison system.
