Social Media Challenge Turns Tragic, 14-Year-Old Dies After Injecting Dead Butterfly

When first injured, the boy from Brazil told his father that he had been hurt while playing. After his son's passing, his father found the syringe hidden beneath the pillow.

A dangerous online trend in South America resulted in the death of 14-year-old Davi Nunes Moreira. The teenager used a syringe from his room to administer a mixture of a deceased butterfly and water into his body.

As per Initial statements, Moreira indicated that he had not participated in the social media challenge, though these reports now seem inaccurate.

The teenage has gone though severe symptoms like loss of mobility and vomiting.

He was admitted to the hospital but died from complications after seven days. Studies suggest two possible explanations for his death: a blood vessel blockage due to embolism or an allergic reaction. The exact reason of the death is still not clear, as per media reports.

As quoted by the New York Post, Relvas stated that, “We don’t know how he prepared this mixture or the size of the fragments he managed to inject into the body.”
