A 37-year-old software developer in Singapore, Su Qin, was reportedly fined S$5,000 (Rs 3.2 lakh approximately) for making a fake medical certificate to take nine days’ leave from work. According to Channel News Asia, the woman, a citizen of China, resorted to forgery because of family-related health problems, including hers and her sick mother’s.

Afraid of what her company might think, she modified an old medical certificate, altered it to St. Luke Hospital, and then manipulated the leave dates with the help of Photoshop. Reports stated that she changed the date of hospitalisation from March 23 and April 3. She next dated the certificate to March 31.

According to reports, the HR lodged a report of forgery with the police. Following investigations, it was revealed that she had also forged a death certificate of her mother to prolong her stay in China. Qin was asked to pay a fine of S$5,000 for her forgeries.
