San Francisco: The recent attacks on the Indian Embassy situated in the America’s San Francisco on Tuesday has been sternly condemned by Indian-American Congressman Shri Thanedar on Tuesday as per local time.
Calling the attacks “unacceptable” he told news agency ANI the States should also strongy condemned such attacks and also provide protection to democratic institutions.
What happened at the San Francisco’s Indian Consulate?
The Khalistani elements, who in a forged attempt, failed to set ablaze the Indian Consulate last weekend. The attempt did not leave anyone injured or caused any damage. However, the law enforcement has launched an investigation into the matter.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday when fire crews were called to the Consulate General of India in San Francisco. They discovered a smoldering debris fire on the sidewalk, which caused damage to the front door and entryway of the consulate. It is worth noting that the consulate had previously been vandalized by Sikh protesters earlier this year.
Shri Thanedar calls on US to evoke condemnation
Shri Thanedar stressed the need for democratic and peaceful means to express disagreements. He called for the United States to strongly condemn such attacks and ensure the safety and security of the Indian diplomatic community in the country.
Meanwhile, top White House official Kurt Campbell described it as “deeply regrettable” and assured that steps are being taken to provide protection to the Indian diplomatic community.
