Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. During the conversation, President Putin shared his assessment of his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska last Saturday.
PM Modi thanked him and emphasized India’s consistent position in favor of a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict with Ukraine through diplomacy and dialogue. The two leaders also discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and agreed to remain in close touch. The Indian Prime Minister reiterated the country’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving this goal.
In a post on a social media platform X, PM Modi said, “Thank my friend, President Putin, for his phone call and for sharing insights on his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard. I look forward to our continued exchanges in the days to come.”

India warmly welcomed the recent Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, marking a significant moment in global diplomacy. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs praised the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing their leadership as “highly commendable” in their efforts to pursue peace and resolve the Ukraine conflict.
“India welcomes the Summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their leadership in the pursuit of peace is highly commendable,” the Ministry of External Affairs’ statement said.
