President of Russia, Vladimir Putin publicly congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US Presidential Elections. In his message, he heaped praises on Trump and expressed Russia’s willingness to restore relations with the United States. Putin’s congratulatory message came as remarks to the Valdai forum in the southern city of Sochi, a black sea resort.
During the question-and-answer session after the conference, Putin said that he would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States of America. Putin said, “I take this opportunity to congratulate him on his election.”
Putin also talked about assassination attempt on Trump during the election campaign and lauded his courage. “He behaved, in my opinion, in a very correct way, courageously, like a real man,” added the Russian President.
Putin On Ties With The US
He also reacted on not so well ties with Washington. Putin said, “I have already said that we will work with any head of state whom the US nation will trust. This is indeed what we will do. I do not consider it shameful for me to call him myself. I just do not do it, because the leaders of Western countries called me almost every week at some stage, until they stopped all of a sudden.”
Russian President’s remark is considered important as he noted Trump’s desire to restore relations with Russia on Ukrainian crisis. Reuters quoted him saying, “What was said about the desire to restore relations with Russia, to bring about the end of the Ukrainian crisis, in my opinion this deserves attention at least.”
Notably, during one of his political campaigns, Trump had asserted that he could bring peace in Ukraine within 24 hours if he gets elected.
Furthermore, Putin added that he is ready to resume discussions with the US if the Trump administration expresses interest.
On Trump’s second term as the US President, Putin said, “I don’t know what will happen now. I have no idea. For him, this is still his last presidential term, what he will do is his matter.”
US Presidential Elections result was declared on 7 November, 2024 and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was declared winner against Kamala Harris.
