According to RT.com, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was responding to French President Emmanuel Macron’s post on X, in which he stated that Russia would have to “pay the price” if it did not come to the negotiation table.

Macron posted on X, “I spoke with President @ZelenskyyUa. As the agreement reached in Gaza offers a glimmer of hope for peace in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine too must come to an end. If Russia persists in its obstinate warmongering and its refusal to come to the negotiating table, it will have to pay the price. France condemns the Russian strikes against Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, which in fact target the civilian population on the eve of winter. Together with our partners, we are exploring the necessary assistance to restore and secure essential services. France stands more than ever alongside Ukraine, fully engaged within the framework of the Coalition of the Willing.”

While talking to reporters, Peskov said that Russia has always preferred a diplomatic solution to the crisis, but Ukraine and its Western allies have never accepted Russian proposals.

He said, “Russia is ready for a peaceful settlement.”

After the Gaza Peace Deal, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed a ray of hope, saying that the right actions by the United States could also help bring an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Zelenskyy wrote on X, “Now, as the war in the Middle East comes to an end, it is important not to lose the momentum for advancing peace. The war in Europe can also be brought to an end, and for that, the leadership of both the United States and other partners is of utmost importance.

Today, I spent nearly an hour discussing all of this with President of Finland @alexstubb. We are coordinating our positions. It is important that President Trump succeeded in implementing the necessary steps to secure the release of hostages and to stop the war in Gaza. Undoubtedly, the right actions by the United States can also help bring an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine. We have a corresponding vision for this. We also discussed with Alex the recent Russian strikes on our energy sector and the need to strengthen air defense. I am grateful for the readiness to help. Russia must be deprived of the means to continue its war and terror – and this can become the most reliable foundation for peace in our region.”
