United States President Joe Biden has stepped out of the presidential race in the best interest of the Democratic Party and the US. He therefore would not be contesting the upcoming presidential elections of the USA to be held in November.
Biden declared this on X, currently suffering from COVID-19. Ever since the debate between the current President and Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, happened on June 28, calls for the withdrawal of President Biden’s candidacy have been getting louder.
With the declaration of Biden’s COVID-19-positive status on July 18, many were of the view that quarantine would give him adequate time to reflect and opt out of the race.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

Past and recent comments, however, reveal that he remains committed to continuing in the race.
Following the declaration of his COVID-19-positive status on July 18, speculations were rife that quarantine would afford Biden enough time for reflection and withdrawal from the race.

Former President Barack Obama and the 52nd Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, would later jump into the bandwagon of criticism against Biden’s decision to run for the presidency.
He later withdrew his presidential bid and proceeded to openly endorse Vice Pres. Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s bet in the November polls.
In a previous statement, President Biden said, “Choosing Kamala Harris as my Vice President was the first decision I made as the Party’s nominee in 2020, and it has been the best decision I have made. Today, I am proudly endorsing Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year. Democrats, let’s come together and beat Trump.”
