PM Modi Writes To Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Cites Bangladesh’s Liberation War, Shared History, And Sacrifices

The prime minister wrote, “ The day stands as a testament to our shared history and sacrifices, that have laid the foundation of our bilateral partnership. The spirit of the Liberation War of Bangladesh continues to remain a guiding light of our relationship, which has flourished across multiple domains, bringing tangible benefits to our people.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a letter to Bangladesh chief adviser Muhammad Yunus on Bangladesh National Day. The prime minister extended his wishes and highlighted the importance of bilateral relations with mutual sensitivity to each other’s interests and concerns.

This development comes on the heels of BIMSTEC, where the two leaders may face each other. The BIMSTEC meeting is scheduled to take place from April 2 to 4 in Thailand.

The spirit of the Liberation War of Bangladesh continues to remain a guiding light of our relationship, which has flourished across multiple domains, bringing tangible benefits to our people.”

He further added, “We remain committed to advancing this partnership, driven by our common aspirations for peace, stability, and prosperity, and based on mutual sensitivity to each other’s interests and concerns.”

Last week, Bangladesh approached India to arrange a meeting between its Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangkok in the first week of April.

The two leaders are likely to visit Thailand from April 2-4 to attend the sixth BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.

Speaking to ANI, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh, Md Touhid Hossain, said, “We have made a diplomatic approach to India to hold bilateral meeting between our two leaders at the sidelines of BIMSTEC Summit.”
