Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II personally drove Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Jordan Museum on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in a special gesture highlighting the strong ties between India and Jordan. The Crown Prince is a 42nd-generation direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad. PM Modi reached Amman, Jordan’s capital, on Monday, December 15, for a two-day visit at the invitation of King Abdullah II. Jordan is the first stop of his four-day, three-country tour, which will also include Ethiopia and Oman.

India-Jordan Aim to Double Trade, Strengthen Cooperation

India and Jordan have set a goal to double their bilateral trade to USD 5 billion in the next five years. Both countries also plan to enhance cooperation in key areas, including fertilizers, particularly phosphates, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said during a special briefing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jordan.

MEA Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra called the visit “historically significant,” noting that it is the first full-fledged bilateral visit in 37 years. She also highlighted that the visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.

King Abdullah II highlights Jordan as key trade hub, praises India’s growth

At the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman on Tuesday, King Abdullah II lauded India’s economic growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He also highlighted Jordan’s strategic potential as a hub for expanding trade and economic cooperation, emphasizing its role in connecting South Asia with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

India reaffirmed its commitment to peace and stability in West Asia, welcoming the adoption of the Gaza Peace Plan during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s delegation-level talks with Jordan’s King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a special briefing on the Prime Minister’s visit to Jordan.

MEA Secretary (South) Neena Malhotra, responding to questions on discussions related to Gaza and regional issues, stated that both leaders emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the region and expressed support for the recently adopted Gaza Peace Plan.
