Pennsylvania shooting: Three police officers were shot dead, and two others wounded in southern Pennsylvania, United States on Wednesday. The shooter was killed by the police later. The fatal incident occurred during a domestic-related investigation that had begun on Tuesday. The shooting took place in North Codorus Township, about 115 miles west of Philadelphia and not far from the Maryland state line, authorities said.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro arrived in the area within hours of the shooting and said he met with families of the officers who were killed, The New York Times reported. “It’s an extraordinary thing that these law enforcement families do. They support the individual who puts on the uniform and runs toward danger. They’re there for them when they leave in the morning, and they pray throughout the day that they will come home at night,” the Governor stated.
“We grieve for the loss of life of three precious souls who served this county, served this commonwealth, served this country,” Shapiro added. Shapiro further mentioned that he had spoken to Attorney General of the United States, Pam Bondi about the incident.

Meanwhile, in a post on X, Bondi confirmed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Headquarters are present at the scene coordinating the investigation. “The @FBI and @ATFHQ are on the scene supporting local law enforcement following the shooting of multiple police officers in York County, Pennsylvania. Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved,” she wrote.
