A prominent Pakistani religious and political figure, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has praised the recent attack on Israel by Hamas, deeming it a “historic success.” He expressed unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people during a press conference held in Peshawar on Sunday.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who leads the Jamiat Ulema-e Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) party and serves as the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), emphasized that this attack underscores the ongoing relevance of the Palestine issue. He stated that the assault carried out by Palestinian Mujahideen forces against Israel marked a significant triumph and liberation of Palestinian territories from Israeli occupation.
In addition to commending the Palestinian people, Rehman pointed out that the international community had mistakenly believed the Palestinian cause to be dormant. He highlighted how the recent events shattered Israel’s defense system and its arrogance.
Hamas militants launched a surprise and unprecedented attack on Israel’s southern regions, resulting in a high casualty count. Israel has reported at least 700 fatalities and over 2,100 injuries, making it one of the deadliest days for the country in half a century. Meanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, nearly 500 deaths and over 2,000 injuries were reported as a result of Israel’s counterattack.

“We believe that this situation needs to be de-escalated promptly and transitioned onto a peaceful path. The continuation of this cycle of violence carries the risk of further escalation and the expansion of the conflict. This poses a significant threat to the entire region, so we are deeply concerned,” Peskov remarked.
He also noted that Russian authorities currently have no information regarding Russian nationals being injured in the conflict.
The international community is closely watching the developments in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts underway to facilitate a ceasefire and pave the way for negotiations to resolve the underlying issues contributing to the conflict.
