India is commemorating Vijay Diwas today, honouring the extraordinary courage and valor of its armed forces. The day marks the historic victory of the Indian Army in the 1971 war, which played a pivotal role in the Bangladesh Liberation War. Nearly 93,000 Pakistani soldiers, led by General A A Khan Niazi, surrendered to the Indian forces on December 16, 1971, marking one of the largest surrenders since World War II.
Pakistan warned to withdraw from Balochistan, PoK and Sindh
The occasion has even drawn attention from Pakistan, with Baloch leader Mir Yar Baloch sending a congratulatory message to India, while issuing a stern and unequivocal warning to the occupying forces of Pakistan. He has asked them to withdraw from Balochistan, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Sindh, or face another historic and humiliating collapse reminiscent of 1971. He emphasised that history has proven that oppression, occupation, and brutality cannot last, and that only accountability ultimately prevails.
Extending congratulations to India on victory day, Mir Yar Baloch wrote on X, “Republic of Balochistan Warns: History Will Repeat Pakistan’s 1971 Collapse. Happy Vijay Diwas to Bharat. The Republic of Balochistan once again issues a clear and unequivocal warning to the occupying forces of Pakistan: vacate Balochistan, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and Sindh, or risk facing another historic and humiliating collapse similar to what the world witnessed in 1971. History has shown that oppression, occupation, and brutality do not endure only accountability does.”

Baloch leader further highlighted 16 December 1971 as a day that revealed the collapse of Pakistan’s military might, emphasising the atrocities committed by the Pak Army and their ultimate surrender to the Indian Army. “Today marks 16 December 1971, a date etched permanently into the conscience of South Asia and the world. After committing mass atrocities-including the killing of nearly three million Bengalis and the systematic violation of hundreds of thousands of Bengali women—the Pakistan Army faced inevitable defeat. Ninety-three thousand Pakistani troops surrendered before the Indian Army and the joint forces of Bangladesh at the Ramna Race Course in Dhaka. Lieutenant General A. A. K. Niazi formally signed the instrument of surrender before General Jagjit Singh Aurora, Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command-marking the largest military surrender since World War II,” he added in the post.
While saluting the brave Indian Armed Forces, who played a decisive role in saving millions of innocent lives from annihilation by Pakistan’s radical and genocidal machinery, Mir stated that their actions remain a testament to moral courage and the defense of human dignity. He concluded the post, saying, “Let this day serve as a warning to all occupying forces and a message of hope to oppressed nations: history does not forgive tyranny, and freedom always prevails.”
