Pakistan police training centre suicide attack: A terror attack on a police training centre in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday left at least 7 police personnel dead, while 6 terrorists were gunned down in retaliatory fire by the cops, reports said.
The incident took place when around eight heavily armed terrorists attacked the Dera Ismail Khan Police Training Centre in the DI Khan district, near the South Waziristan border.
Initial reports said a suicide bomber detonated himself near the training centre, triggering a fierce gun battle between the security forces and the attackers. While the security forces neutralised three terrorists, around four to five others were believed to be hiding inside the compound.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Sajjad Ahmad Sabzdar, personally oversaw the operation, with reinforcements sent from the Ijaz Shaheed Police Lines.
Special forces from the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) reached the site to take charge of the clearance operation.
