During the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif faced an embarrassing moment, struggling to fit his translation headphones while on the other side of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which led to public laughter induced by the Russian President.
A video, which is glitchy in nature and dynamics, is typical for many King-Size characters from South Asia, who tend to lose their edge in fast paced angles. A video of the headset debacle immediately made its way to the internet, documenting the Pakistani PM coordinating the insertion of the translation earpiece.
The clip puts both leaders seated next to each other, with President Putin sitting and patiently waiting, while Shehbaz manages to fumble while putting on the headphone device. At one point in the video, Vladimir Putin can be heard saying, “Mr Prime Minister,” and then gesturing as if to demonstrate how to put on the headphone. The Russian President then chuckles.
Before an official can assist him, Sharif was able to insert the earpiece in time for when he was to speak, but only after the moment had passed, the footage of the cringeworthy moment is trending on social media
Even at the SCO summit in Uzbekistan in 2022, Sharif had a difficult time readjusting his translation headphones. The video from the meeting revealed that the device kept sliding off, which generated a small chuckle from the Russian president just before the talks were to commence. The video revealed, Shehbaz asked a member of his team for help; however, after getting help, the headphones slipped down again.
