Islamabad: The arrest of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is certain. According to the latest media reports, Imran Khan had gone out for a procession in Rawalpindi but did not return. To avoid arrest, he has gone to a safe place under the supervision of the Punjab government.

A large number of PTI supporters have gathered at Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala. Imran Khan can be arrested anytime. Pakistani newspaper ‘Dawn’ reports that Islamabad Police had reached the gala to arrest Imran but could not succeed due to ‘law and order situation’. A case was registered against him under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The leaders of Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have threatened that Imran Khan’s arrest will be a ‘red line’ that the government will not cross.

Ali Amin Khan, a minister in the Imran government, warned that PTI workers would ‘takeover’ Islamabad if the Pakistan government arrested Imran. On the other hand, Hasan Niazi has called for a nationwide strike.

PTI leaders threaten police

PTI leaders are constantly tweeting that the arrest of Imran Khan will not be tolerated. Ali Amin Gandapur threatened the police not to ‘be part of a political war’.

“If imran khan is arrested by the imported govt we will take over Islamabad and my message to police is that don’t be part of this political war anymore otherwise will deal u as pdm workers not police anymore let pti and pdm leadership and workers fight and decide once and for all,” he said in his tweet.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Hammad Azhar has appealed to people to assemble at Liberty Chowk in Lahore and Farrukh Habib at Samandari Road in Faisalabad.

Imran Khan booked for terrorism

The Pakistan government has booked the Pakistan Tekreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader under a stringent anti-terrorism law.

With Imran Khan about to be arrested, internet connections have been disrupted in major cities across Pakistan in anticipation of possible law and order problems by PTI workers and supporters.

The latest move by the Pakistan government follows weeks of nationwide agitation by Imran Khan and the PTI against prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army.

There will be no live broadcast of Imran Khan’s speeches

Earlier, Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had banned the broadcast of live speeches of former Prime Minister Imran Khan with immediate effect. This action has been taken after Imran Khan had threatened government institutions and officials of Pakistan while addressing a rally in Islamabad on Saturday.

“Imran Khan’s speech is a violation of Article 19 of the Constitution. Imran Khan, while addressing a public meeting, had threatened to register a case against top police officials, a woman magistrate, the Election Commission of Pakistan and political opponents for the behavior of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill. Imran Khan’s speech was in violation of Article 19 of the Constitution. Imran Khan’s speeches are likely to disturb the peace,” PEMRA said in a statement on Saturday.
