Nine people tragically lost their lives in Pakistan when a rocket launcher shell exploded in a house. The incident occurred as children were playing with the rocket launcher, resulting in the demise of the entire family. This unfortunate event which claimed the lives of five children, two women and two men, took place in Sindh province.
According to the police, the children had discovered the rocket shell and mistakenly considered it a toy, bringing it home to play with. Tragically, the launcher shell exploded during their playtime, causing the devastating loss of life. Additionally, five individuals sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Kashmore-Kandhakot Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rohil Khosa mentioned that the proximity to the riverbank raised the possibility that criminals or dacoits hiding in the area may have left the rocket shell there. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed concern about the rise of criminal activity in riverbank areas of Sindh and Punjab. He urged the government to take action against such lawless elements.
Sindh Chief Minister Maqbool Bakar has requested a report from the provincial Inspector General to determine how a rocket launcher ended up in the village in Kashmore district. He also raised questions about the presence of weapon stockpiles in the area, calling for a thorough investigation.
It is worth noting that incidents of similar nature have occurred in Pakistan in the past. In April of this year, a child tragically lost their life in a grenade blast while playing with a grenade found in a field.
