Mark Carney made criticisms of Donald Trump in his historic victory speech after leading the Canadian parliamentary election to its third straight win. Carney would proceed to serve as prime minister once again. Democratic leaders supported their new prime minister through cheers when Mark Carney declared the integration period between Canada and USA to be finished. According to him the previous US relationship that brought prosperity to Canada no longer exists while he advised President Trump and his team that Canada will reduce its reliance on America by exploring new options.
Numerous quick polls emerged in Canada at the time due to President Trump’s active efforts to transform Canada into the USA’s 51st state. President Trump showed such determination in his pursuit by openly breaching Canada’s sovereignty through inappropriate naming of its head of government. President Trump has shown his annexation dreams of Canada by unveiling two plans: first he wants to purchase Greenland and he also wants to purchase Canada as a new state of the United States.
The Canadian government first viewed these comments as casual insults until repeated occurrence caused them to retaliate by proposing a purchase deal for California, Oregon, Washington and Minnesota. Donald Trump became furious after meting out economic penalties by means of tariffs and taxes against Canada in a calculated move to harm its citizens who depended wholly on southern trade.
The situation demanded Canada to submit or risk destruction due to economic challenges. Canadians have responded in fury to their nearest ally’s betrayal so they seek to fortify their nation. The first requirement to make Canada stronger next to Trump’s hostile moves was to put an administration into power which could defend against his actions and stop him from trying again in future.
Prime Minister Mr Carney expressed this view at his victory address as he started his second consecutive term as leader after serving a brief initial period. History shows numerous moments in which the global circumstances rested heavily on the outcome.
During both the end of World War II and the end of the Cold War exactly the same situation unfolded. During crucial historical moments Canada consistently took action as the free sovereign nation that pursues national ambition with compassion and generosity. The nation should lead democratic progress and achieve freedom. The Canadian spirit leads us to show both compassion and generosity because we are a part of this nation.
Mr Carney informed the nation from his election-winning position that Donald Trump’s objectives and ambitions would restrict further American leverage during his speech. Our previous relationship based on continuous growth integration with the United States has completely ended. The open global trade system backed by the United States which Canada depended on since World War II has disappeared permanently.
Disheartened at seeing the decades-old ties with the United States now shattered, Prime Minister Carney told fellow Canadians that “These are tragedies, but it is also our reality. We are over the shock of the American betrayal. We are over. But we should never, ever forget the lessons. We’re going to take this forward and we have to look out for ourselves, but above all, we must take care of each other.”
Mr Carney, who is a PhD in Economics with an education from Harvard and Oxford, has assured Canadians that he will send Canada’s message of rejection to Washington loud and clear. “When I sit down with President Trump, it will be to discuss the future economic and security relationship between two sovereign nations. And it will be with our full knowledge that we have many, many other options than just the United States to bring prosperity for all Canadians,” he said.
