New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has joined the call for solidarity with Starbucks workers across the US, who are currently on an Unfair Labor Practices (ULP) strike demanding a fair contract. In a post shared on X, Mamdani has extended support to Starbucks workers and urged everyone to participate in the movement in their own way.
Why New York Mayor Mamdani is boycotting Starbucks?
Responding to a post from Starbucks Workers United, Mamdani stated that while the workers are on strike, he will not be buying any Starbucks and urged others to do the same. He stressed that through this action, they all can send a powerful message of “No contract, no coffee,” showing solidarity with workers and demanding fair treatment from the company. He has backed the workers call against unfair practices and fight for a fair contract.
Mamdani wrote on X, “Starbucks workers across the country are on an Unfair Labor Practices strike, fighting for a fair contract. While workers are on strike, I won’t be buying any Starbucks, and I’m asking you to join us. Together, we can send a powerful message: No contract, no coffee.”

Starbucks Workers’ ULP strike
Notably, Starbucks Workers United in US on Friday, November 14, stated that their strike is officially underway and could become the largest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history. They encouraged the public to show support by saying #NoContractNoCoffee and refraining from purchasing Starbucks products for the duration of the open-ended strike.
“As of today, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we’re prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history. Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON’T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX,” the worker’s group wrote on X.
