After the Israeli Air Force launched a long-range assault on Houthi targets in Yemen, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Wednesday evening that Israel would persist in targeting its adversaries.
“A few days ago, we eliminated most of the members of the Houthis’ terror government. In response, the Houthis fired on Ramon Airport two days ago. That did not relax our hands. We prepared for them from the air again today, at their terror facilities, at terror bases with a great many terrorists, and also at other facilities,” Netanyahu stated. “We will continue and strike. Anyone who hits us, anyone who attacks us–we will reach him.”

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that its fighter jets hit multiple locations in Yemen, including sites in the capital Sana’a and the northern province of Al Jawf. According to the IDF, the strikes targeted military camps used for planning and executing operations against Israel, a fuel depot supporting Houthi forces, and the group’s public relations headquarters—described as a propaganda center that regularly broadcasts speeches by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi and other top officials.
The Air Force described the raid as its longest mission since the outbreak of the war, covering more than 2,350 kilometres. More than ten fighter jets participated, deploying over thirty munitions against fifteen separate targets. Several midair refuelling operations were required to complete the strike.
“The IDF will operate against the ongoing and repeated attacks of the Houthi terrorist regime against the State of Israel, and remains determined to continue removing any threat posed to the civilians of the State of Israel, wherever it is required,” the military said in a statement.
Defence Minister Israel Katz praised the action, calling it “another painful blow” against the Houthis. “We promised more strikes and today we prepared another painful blow to the Houthi terrorist organisation in Yemen,” Katz said.
Since March 18, when Israel resumed military operations against Hamas after a temporary ceasefire, the Iran-backed Houthis group in Yemen has launched more than 70 ballistic missiles and 23 drones toward Israeli territory. Most of these projectiles were intercepted or fell short. Meanwhile, Hamas-following its large-scale assault on October 7-has launched over 200 missiles and 170 drones at Israel.
Operating from coastal positions in Yemen, Houthi militants have attacked or harassed more than 100 vessels navigating the Bab el-Mandeb Strait-a critical maritime passage linking the Arabian Peninsula to Africa. This strait is a key route for global oil shipments moving from the Indian Ocean toward the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean. The increased threat has brought operations at Israel’s Port of Eilat to a near-complete halt.
On October 7, Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israeli communities near the Gaza border, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking 252 hostages, including both Israelis and foreign nationals. As of now, 48 hostages remain in captivity, and around 20 are believed to still be alive.-
