In a virtual meeting that lasted nearly four hours, members of the Gen Z movement decided to appoint former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as their interim leader to represent them in upcoming discussions.
During the core session held to select the interim leader, it was unanimously agreed that no youth affiliated with political parties should participate in the leadership talks. Karki, a prominent civic activist, was chosen because she is unaffiliated with any political party, making her a neutral figure suited to lead the negotiations.

According to Gen Z members, no other individual was deemed more capable of assuming this role at this time. The group agreed to issue a formal statement confirming Karki’s leadership. The names of Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and young political leader Sagar Shakal were also discussed, but not finalized.

The group emphasized that both the leadership and the agenda must be broadly accepted among all members. Previously, Army Chief General Ashok Raj had suggested that Gen Z representatives hold talks with the Rastriya Swatantra Party and Durga Prasai-a, a proposal the group has firmly declined.
Media reports have revealed that the former chief Justice has accpeted the position of the interim leader.
