Nepal is witnessing a wave of unrest as the army has declared a lockdown across the country to control the escalating situation. Violence erupted in several places, including a jail where firing resulted in the deaths of five people. Protesters also targeted government offices, with the Election Commission office set on fire, further intensifying the chaos. Authorities are struggling to restore order as tensions continue to rise across the nation.
The Nepal Army said on Wednesday that because of threats to public security, the prohibitory order in the country will remain in force until 5 pm. After that, a nationwide curfew will be in place until 6 am on Thursday. The army also said that in the name of the protest, unruly groups attacked people, damaged property, and even tried to commit sexual assaults.
