As the protest over the social media ban continues with unrest in Nepal, over 1500 prisoners reportedly escaped from various jails of the country. Reports suggest that 572 inmates escaped from Jaleshwar prison in Mahottari after protesters and prisoners together breached the prison wall.
Police officer Heramba Sharma said it happened around 7 p.m. when more than 500 protesters came to the prison. He said the prisoners only had kitchen tools, but the protesters had crowbars. Because of this, the police could not stop them.
