All airports in Nepal, including Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, will remain closed until 12 pm on Wednesday, according to airport authorities. Flights were suspended from 2 pm on Tuesday due to rising unrest. As a result, hundreds of passengers have been left stranded both in Nepal and abroad, with all takeoffs and landings halted since afternoon on September 9. Moreover, the Nepali Army has taken command inside and outside the airport to maintain the security.
General Manager of the Tribhuvan International Airport, Hansa Raj Pandey informed that the authorities will review the situation before deciding whether to reopen airport after Wednesday noon, as reported by The Kathmandu Post.
