Chandrayaan 3: America’s space agency NASA on Wednesday released a photo of Chandrayaan’s Vikram Lander which is situated on the lunar surface. The photo was taken by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft.
Chandrayaan-3’s lander and its shadow can be seen in the middle of this photo. While sharing this photo on X, NASA wrote, “NASA’s LRO spacecraft has recently taken a picture of Chandrayaan-3 lander on the surface of the Moon.”
What else did NASA say?
NASA further said, “On August 23, 2023, ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 landed about 600 kilometers away from the south pole of the Moon.” India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission created history by making a soft landing on the South Pole of the Moon on August 23. Earlier, no country had been able to reach the southern part of the Moon.

LROC took the photo of the lander
The US space agency said its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) captured an oblique view of the lander. The bright halo around the vehicle was created by the interaction of the rocket plume with the fine-grained regolith (soil).
