Senior Vice Defense Minister Toshiro Ino told reporters in Tokyo that the missile, which travelled about 300 kilometers and reached a maximum altitude of 50 km, may have flown on an irregular trajectory.

Ino said that North Korea’s actions, including the latest missile launch, “threaten the peace and safety of our nation, the region and the international community,” Kyodo reports.

Japan has lodged a protest with North Korea via its embassy in Beijing, Ino added.
