Egypt’s former Tourism Minister, Dr. Khaled El-Enany, is all set to become the next UNESCO Director-General. He was nominated by the UNESCO Executive Board on October 6. If El-Enany’s name is approved by UNESCO’s General Conference in November 2025, where all 194 member states will cast their votes, he would become the first Arab candidate to reach the Director-General position.
UNESCO posted a tweet on X: “Khaled El-Enany nominated by @UNESCO’s Executive Board for the post of Director-General of the Organization. This nomination will be put to a vote by all UNESCO Member States on 6 November during the General Conference, to be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.”
