According to Sacramento Fire Department officials, the REACH air medical services helicopter went down under unclear circumstances, leaving at least three people critically injured. Authorities have closed the highway at 59th Street, and the cause of the crash is currently under investigation, reported CBS news. It is not yet clear if the aircraft was traveling to or from an area hospital.

Videos of crash circulate on social media

The videos and photo circulating on social media show the helicopter flipped upside down, sprawled across multiple lanes and surrounded by debris. According to reports, the crash occurred shortly after 7 pm, when the helicopter had just taken off from UC Davis Medical Center.
