A manslaughter case has been filed against the Indian owner of the restaurant named ‘Haveli’ in Georgia. The case has been registered due to the death of 11 Indian-origin workers and one person from Georgia. The incident took place on Saturday in Georgian resort.
As per article 116 under Georgian law, ‘Killing by negligence’ of two or more people is punishable by putting the accused behind bars for 3-5 years.
As quoted by The Week, the source from the external affairs ministry stated “This seems to be a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. They (11 Indian nationals) were employees of an Indian restaurant ‘Haveli’, in Gudauri, Georgia. Local authorities are investigating, and an Embassy official is on site as well.”
A video shared by an X user shows the place where the incident took place. He wrote that, Twelve Indian nationals died from carbon monoxide poisoning at a Gudauri restaurant in Georgia, with no signs of violence.”

All the 11 deceased were from North India. According to reports by The Week, the bodies of the deceased were discovered on the second floor of the building.
According to the media reports, the police mentioned that the preliminary tests showed that there was no sign of violence on the bodies of the deceased. They further mentioned that the incident seemed like an accident.
