Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his longtime partner Jodie Haydon in a private ceremony in Canberra on Saturday. With this, he became the first serving prime minister ever in the 124-year history of the country’s federal government to wed while in office. The wedding ceremony took place over a year after the Australian PM proposed to his new wife on Valentine’s Day 2024.

Nelson Mandela marries on his 80th birthday
Nelson Mandela married Graça Machel, the widow of former Mozambican President Samora Machel, on his 80th birthday. He married for the third time after divorcing his first wife in 1957 and his second wife in 1996. According to a CNN report, Nelson Mandela once said that Graça Machel helped him “bloom like a flower.” The couple lived harmoniously with their extended family.
Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch marries at 93
Australian-born Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch married for a fifth time at his Californian vineyard in 2024. He tied the knot at 93 with his partner Elena Zhukova, a retired Russian biologist. Murdoch was rumoured to be dating Zhukova soon after his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, the ex-police chaplain, was abruptly called off in 2023.
Mr Murdoch is the chairman emeritus of News Corporation, which owns Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Sun, and the Times, the BBC reported.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva found love at 77
Brazilian President Lula da Silva married for the third time to Rosangela at the age of 73 in 2022. After tying the knot, he credited his wife of mere months with giving him new life. Lula da Silva took time off from campaigning during his presidential election to marry her. “I am as in love as if I were 20 years old,” the president has said of his wife.
