A man in China has finally hit the Jackpot after seven years of buying lottery ticket using his family members’ birth dates. He has won 24-million-yuan which amounts to US $3.4 million.
The man was announced as first prize-lottery winner on September 10 by the Chinese welfare lottery shuang se qiu, or Double Colour Ball. This man uses pseudonym, Huang and is from Hefei, Anhui province in central China.
The man claimed the prize on September 12. He said, “I’ve been buying lottery tickets for more than 10 years, never spending more than 20 yuan per draw.”
He said that he never expected this win. “I try to keep it rational and never really expected to win the jackpot. My usual mindset is to support charity with my purchases, winning is just a bonus.”
Briefing about combination of numbers he used for lottery, Huang said, “When I first started playing I liked to use randomly generated numbers. Then, one day, I read a story about a lottery winner who had used a combination of their family members’ birthdays.”
He got inspired by the story and decided to do the same in 2017. “Inspired by this, I decided in 2017 to do the same with my family’s birthdays, sticking with those numbers. I never thought I would actually win big!” added Huang.
He mentioned that he will use the prize money to improve the living condition of his family. He told that he intends to buy a better house.
Double Colour Ball is one of the popular lotteries in China which was launched in 2023.
