Kate revealed the news through a video message
In a video message on Friday, Kate, aged 42, disclosed that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, which doctors discovered after her abdominal surgery in January. They have not disclosed the specific type of cancer yet. She expressed that the diagnosis was a huge shock to her and her family but assured that she is doing well and improving each day.
Previously, officials announced that Kate Middleton would refrain from carrying out royal duties until after the Easter holidays. However, after she announced the cancer diagnosis on Friday, a palace spokesperson stated that she would resume her duties when her medical team clears her to do so, as reported by People.
The spokesperson also mentioned that Kate started her preventative chemotherapy treatment in late February.
On Saturday, observers spotted the couple for the first time since Kate’s announcement, boarding a helicopter near their Windsor residence, as The Mirror reported. They were heading to their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk, where they plan to spend the Easter school holidays with their three children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8), and Prince Louis (5).
Kate Middleton’s announcement about her cancer diagnosis followed weeks of speculation and rumors due to her prolonged absence from public view. Since her video message, there has been an outpouring of support for her from across the globe, with hashtags like ‘WeLoveYouCatherine’ and ‘GetWellSoonCatherine’ trending on social media platforms. Numerous political figures, celebrities, and cancer survivors have also sent messages of encouragement to the Princess of Wales.
