Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue targeting threats in Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched its first airstrike on Beirut since the November ceasefire.
The Israeli Prime minister wrote on X, “Those who have not yet internalized the new situation in Lebanon received today another example of our determination.The equation has changed – what happened before the October 7 attacks will not be repeated. We will not allow shooting at our communities, not even a drizzle.We will continue to vigorously enforce the ceasefire, attack anywhere in Lebanon against any threat to the State of Israel, and ensure that all our residents in the north return to their homes safely.”
On the other hand, The Lebanese Armed Force claimed that they have recovered the rocket launcher used in this morning’s attack on Kiryat Shmona.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and discussed efforts to strengthen Lebanon. Aoun said that they reject any attack on Lebanon or any malicious attempt to return Lebanon to the cycle of violence.
On March 24, Israel’s military announced that a Hezbollah commander, Hassan Kamal Halawi, was killed in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh, The Times of Israel reported.
The IDF said it targeted and killed the chief of Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile unit, Hassan Kamal Halawi, in southern Lebanon. It said that Halawi was responsible for several terror attacks against Israel and continued to engage in terrorist activity against Israeli civilians.
In a statement, the Israeli army said, “During the war, Halawi was responsible for numerous terror attacks against the State of Israel. He facilitated the movement of operatives and the supply of weapons into southern Lebanon. In recent months, Halawi continued to engage in terrorist activity against Israeli civilians.” The IDF said that Halawi was targeted as he posed a threat to Israel, The Times of Israel reported.
