At least 33 people were reportedly killed and 85 others injured on Friday after Israeli strikes hit several houses in North Gaza’s Jabalia city. According to Al Jazeera, Rescue crews said the numbers could rise as more people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. Among the 33 deceased, 20 are believed to be women.
The latest reports revealed that the Israeli attack killed at least four and wounded 15 others in a bombardment of a house in the al-Tawbah, Jabalia, in a separate attack.
The Israeli military claimed that it had carried out extensive operations in the area for nearly two weeks, citing its aim to dismantle Hamas’s infrastructure and prevent the group from reconstituting.
Residents of Jabalia said that the Israeli tanks have been destroying dozens of houses and buildings from the air and ground daily. AFP news agency reported that Israel’s military claimed that it is currently looking into a strike by its forces that took at least 33 people’s lives in the Jabalia refugee camp.
According to sources, the strikes have killed hundreds and displaced tens of thousands. Dr. Mohamad Salha, acting director at al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, spoke to Al Jazeera about the attack on the Jabalia refugee camp recently. “I received over 70 people injured in the emergency department and more than 30 who were killed,” he said.
