Amid escalating regional tensions following the US Strike on Iran's key nuclear sites, Israel's Airport on Sunday (June 22, 2025) announced that it has closed the country's airspace. The decision has been taken in alignment with an apparent precautionary measure, the Times of Israel reported. Meanwhile, the Port Authority said that the land crossings into Egypt and Jordon will remain operational.

Officials added that Israel's airspace will be closed to both inbound and outbound flights. Further information on how long the air traffic will be shut down has not been disclosed. In another development that unfolded on Sunday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched fresh airstrikes on key military sites in western Iran.

IAF Launches Fresh Strikes On Iran

The assault comes shortly after Iranian missiles injured Israeli civilians. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, "The IAF has begun a series of strikes toward military targets in western Iran. Additionally, this morning, the IAF struck missile launchers ready to launch toward Israeli territory, soldiers in the Iranian Armed Forces, and swiftly neutralised the launchers that launched missiles toward Israeli territory a short while ago."

According to Israel's state news agency TPS, the missiles targeted Tel Aviv, Haifa, and central Israel. Following this, air raid alarms were sounded, and residents were advised to take refuge inside bomb shelters.
