New Delhi: The Israeli military launched strikes in Lebanon on Sunday to counter a potential threat from Hezbollah, an Iran-backed terror group. In retaliation, Hezbollah fired over 150 rockets from Lebanon into Israel. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in response to the death of its military commander, Fuad Shukr.
Israel Declares 48-Hour Emergency
Hezbollah, the Lebanon-based group, stated that it targeted a specific military site, Israel’s Iron Dome platforms, and other locations, but mentioned that its full response would take time, according to Reuters. In response, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a 48-hour emergency in Israel.
It said that 11 military bases were hit. Israel has now declared a state of emergency that will remain in effect for two days.
